Batch Workload Management

Performance Intelligence > Solutions > Batch Workload Management

Batch workload management assures the timely completion of the batch window workload. Many organizations try to shorten the batch window in order to be ready as early as possible for the next business day. If the batch window finishes later than expected, reasons for the late finish must be immediately uncovered and the following questions require answers:

· Are we experiencing delays due to an increase in the volume of business transactions?

· Can we overcome the cause of the delay and prevent it from happening again?

· Do we need to inform the management of the situation?

· Do we need to acquire more computing power?

Viewing throughput from many meaningful angles may present the CPU utilization of either a single batch job or of different address space groups that combine batch jobs, online, database, system and other address spaces. CPU utilization can be summarized and presented in daily intervals (each is one to several hours), as well as daily and monthly summaries. High CPU utilization intervals can be analyzed to find the cause of the increased utilization and once the cause is located, measures to improve the situation can be implemented.
