The aim of capacity management is to ensure availability of computing resources to meet expected service levels by planning, monitoring and optimizing the throughput of an organization’s zOS system.
Examining batch jobs’ CPU utilization from several meaningful perspectives may require addressing combined batch jobs as well as online, database, system and other address spaces. CPU utilization can be summarized and presented in daily intervals (each can be one to several hours), as well as daily and monthly summaries. CPU high-utilization intervals can be analyzed and once the cause is located, defining and implementing improvements is easy.
